Turkey Burger
Let’s talk turkey! This recipe uses sauces and herbs to make a unique turkey burger experience. Perfect for the grill, but can also be cooked up on a skillet.
Ingredients:
1 pound (450 g) ground turkey
1 egg, slightly beaten (don’t hurt it)
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1 small yellow onion, finely minced
1 teaspoon (5 mL) Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) Louisiana hot sauce
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) yellow mustard
1 teaspoon (5 mL) dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) dried parsley
1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground black pepper
2/3 cup (150 mL) Italian style bread crumbs
Cooking It:
Heat up the grill. In a small bowl, mix the Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, mustard, pepper, thyme, rosemary, parsley, and black pepper. In a large bowl, add the onion, garlic, and bread crumbs. Add the ground turkey and mix. Add the egg and mix. Add the other ingredients in the small bowl and mix well. Shape into the burger patty size of your choice. Place on the grill and cook until the internal temperature is 175 degrees F (80 C). Use a meat thermometer to check (no fingers please).
Skillet method: Grease skillet with a teaspoon of oil. Place burger patties on the skillet and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Flip over to the other side and cook until the internal temperature is 175 degrees F (80 C).
