Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich

Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich

Just when I thought shrimp could not be any tastier, I got a chance to go to New Orleans and try this sandwich. I really like this version, and I hope you do too.

Ingredients:

16 ounces (450 g) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined

For the spice mix:

1 teaspoon (5ml) garlic powder

2 teaspoons (5ml) onion powder

1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground cumin

1 teaspoon (5ml) dried thyme

1 teaspoon (5ml) dried oregano

1 teaspoon (5ml) cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon (5ml) paprika

1 teaspoon (5ml) brown sugar

Other ingredients:

1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) lime juice

1 teaspoon (5ml) black pepper

1 teaspoon (5ml) kosher salt

1 teaspoon (5ml) garlic powder

1 tablespoon (15 mL) vegetable oil

1 teaspoon (5 mL) butter

1 cup (250 mL) of a pilsner beer

1 tomato sliced

shredded lettuce

4 French bread rolls, split

mayonnaise for the roll

  Cooking It:

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the shrimp with the lime juice, salt, and pepper for
three minutes. Add the pilsner beer and the spice mix and stir well to mix everything. Cook for a couple of minutes, then add the butter. Cook for a few more minutes until the shrimp is pink.

Spread the mayonnaise on the bread.
Add the lettuce, tomato slices, and the shrimp. Enjoy with even more beer.
