Turkey Bell Pepper Burger
Can you tell that I like turkey burgers? This recipe uses red and green bell peppers in the burger.
I use ground turkey, but you can also use ground beef. Another winner for the griller.
Ingredients:
1 pound (450 g) ground turkey
1 stalk celery
1 small yellow onion
1 clove garlic
1 small green bell pepper, seeded
1 small red bell pepper, seeded
1 teaspoon (5 mL) kosher salt
1 teaspoon (5 mL) black pepper
1 teaspoon (5 mL) mesquite barbeque mix
1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons (10 mL) Worcestershire sauce
1 cup (250 mL) plain bread crumbs
1 egg, slightly beaten
Cooking It:
Cut the celery, onion, garlic, green and red bell peppers into slices to place in a food processor. Blend until smooth. Add the mixture to a large bowl. Add the Worcestershire sauce to the bowl. Combine the salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, mesquite mix and add to the bowl. Stir and mix. Add the ground turkey, bread crumbs, and egg to the bowl and mix thoroughly. Shape into patties.
Grill it: Place on the grill and cook until the internal temperature is 175 degrees F (80 C). Use a meat thermometer to check.
Skillet method: Grease skillet with a teaspoon of oil. Place burger patties on the skillet and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Flip over to the other side and cook until the internal temperature is 175 degrees F (80 C).
