Welcome

“One small step for recipe blogs,…” Thanks for checking out this recipe blog. I offer recipes and ideas the take a twist to familiar and not so familiar foods. A portion of any profits go to two charities that help alleviate hunger. I hope you find the ideas interesting and fun to try!

Kickin' It Brisket

Kickin' It Brisket

Not your momma’s brisket. This one has a southwestern flair to it.

Ingredients:

a 5 pound (2.27 kg) beef brisket

2 tablespoons (30 mL) seasoned salt

2 tablespoons (30 mL) garlic powder

1 tablespoon (15 mL) smoked paprika

1 tablespoon (15 mL) chili powder

2 teaspoons (10 mL) ground white pepper

1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground black pepper

2 chipotle chilis in adobe sauce, chopped

Cooking It:

Pre-heat oven to 275 degrees F (140 C). Place brisket in a 9 x 13 x 2 (23 x 33 x 5 cm) baking pan

In a bowl, combine and mix the seasoned salt, garlic powder, chili powder, white and black pepper, and paprika. Add the chopped chipotle peppers and 1/4 cup (65 mL) water to make a paste. Rub on to the brisket and place in oven. Cook for up to 5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 150 degrees F (65 C).

Product Placement: I use Penzy’s Spices Chili 3000 for the chili powder mix. I am not being endorsed by them. There’s a link for it below.
