Spicy Green Beans

Spicy Green Beans

Green beans are better when fried with spices. This recipe allows the spice level to be adjusted to your tolerance. Pour a little more cayenne pepper on it if you like it hot. Exotic turmeric only enhances the flavor.

Ingredients:

1 pound (450 g) fresh green beans, cut into about 1 inch (2.5 cm) length

2 teaspoons (10 mL) salt

1 teaspoon (5 mL) cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) turmeric

1 small onion, chopped

1 inch (2.5 cm) of ginger root, chopped [or 1 teaspoon (5 mL) ground ginger]

1/2 tablespoon (7.5 mL) coconut or vegetable oil

Cooking It:

In a skillet, heat the oil over low heat and add the onion and ginger and sauté until onions are translucent. Add the salt, cayenne pepper, and turmeric and stir. Add the green beans. Cook until desired softness for the beans. I like to cook it for between 10 to 15 minutes.
