Cole Slaw

Cole Slaw

A more traditional American version of cole slaw. A creamy sauce with mayonnaise and mustard compliment the cabbage and carrots.

Ingredients:

3 cups (750 mL) green cabbage, chopped

1 cup (250 mL) red cabbage, chopped

1/2 cup (125 mL) shredded carrots

1/2 cup (125 mL) mayonnaise

2 tablespoons (30 mL) milk

2 tablespoons (30 mL) sugar

1 tablespoon (15 mL) yellow mustard (see note below)

2 teaspoons (10 mL) white vinegar

1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) salt

1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) ground black pepper

(Not) Cooking It:

Note: If you are not a fan of regular mustard, you can use a teaspoon (5 mL) of double superfine ground mustard powder. The major brands that make it are Colman’s, Keen’s, and McCormick.

In a large bowl, combine and mix the mayonnaise, milk, sugar, yellow mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Add the white and red cabbage and the carrots. Mix thoroughly.
