Savory Yogurt

Savory Yogurt

This is a refreshing alternative to the sugary offerings out there. Though I
like some of the commercially available yogurts, sometimes, I just am not in
the mood for ice cream that is basically disguised as yogurt. Look at the label
and you can see added sugar in the form of sucrose, high fructose corn syrup,
and dextrose. I love sugar, but if I am going to have yogurt, I want it to be a
heathier alternative. So, here’s one of the simple recipes for a savory yogurt.

Ingredients:

8 ounces (250 mL) plain yogurt

1 teaspoon (5 mL) finely chopped fresh cilantro

1/2 teaspoon (2 mL) finely chopped fresh ginger

Cooking It:

Finely chop the cilantro and ginger. Add to the yogurt and blend until
smooth. If you prefer a smoother texture, place the cilantro and ginger in a
food processor with a tablespoon (15 mL) of water and blend. Enjoy on its own
or you can use it as a dip with vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, celery,
or bell peppers.
